Songwriter Notes: The idea for the song Cajun Funk (Alligator Delight) was first thought of when I visited the Bayou Pierre Alligator Park near Natchitoches Louisiana, one of those roadside America attractions. While I was there I started thinking about that simple music with the cajun accordion playing in my mind.By the time I got home from that trip I thought of the idea of a cajun funk music that the alligators in the swamp liked, then came the lyrical phrase alligator delight. Then I created verses built upon those ideas. The song has always been intended to be a simple fun silly song with the lyrical phrase "alligator delight" since it's creation.
Recording Notes: For this recorded version of the song it was the cajun accordion sound that was important,so that was added to the drum/bass tracks.
I added the guitar track then vocals which was fun for me.
The simple silly guitar lead was added with my tele and a plastic lighter.
This version of the song (new distrbution 2016) has an updated fadeout
at the end of the song, which I feel is an improvement from the other version.
Cajun Funk (Alligator Delight)
By:Craig Harding
While driving Louisiana way with the window down
I heard this jammin the craziest sound
Some kind of cajun funk
I turned the car around and started heading back
Turned down a dirt road and came upon a bayou shack
That's where that some kind cajun funk is coming from
Some kind of alligator delight
I stood there for hours lending an ear
Till I said to myself it's time to get out of here
So I drove off but one thing I can say
I hear it in my head to this very day
Some kind of cajun funk Alligator delight
